The Radiators

What a sad week for Australian music.

The passing of Stuart Fraser from Noiseworks and now Greedy from the Mentals! It’s always hard to comprehend when you hear of the passing of another peer from our Aussie music family. It invariably makes you question your own mortality and fills you with melancholy.

Our thoughts go out to all the families, friends and bandmates past and present of Stuart and Greedy. Absolutely top blokes both. We hadn’t caught up with Stuart for ages but guaranteed ..if we did, he would have ripped out a megawatt smile and a man hug. An unassuming yet ridiculously talented person who will be sorely missed by many.

Greedy, well what can you say.. an Oz icon. We have had the pleasure to play quite a few shows of late with The Mentals and spend quality time backstage with Greedy and the boys. He was always chirpy and upbeat and a total professional to boot. An irreplaceable character who will also be so sorely missed. The industry is lesser for the passing of these two great guys.

Saw you guys and Mental as Anything at Redland Bay Hotel. It was awesome. Rest in peace Greedy.

So gutted, such a sad week. Remembering all the great gigs since being a teenager and of course, everyone has their time on this planet, but, they both left us way too soon. Thank you for the craziest, fun and brilliant memories. Vale Stuart and Greedy 😭😭

The last Mentals concert I attended was with you guys also. Great memories ❤️ RIP Greedy

That’s why I joined today. I miss greedy. I am I dye hard fan. My poster of mental as anything will stay on the wall forever. Next to I wish that I was seventeen again

Such nice words for such a sad and a tragic week. They were both so young! It's such a shock. Maybe heaven needed their angels back. This one really hurts, I am so grateful that our Rads are well and healthy and I pray that remains the case 🙏♥

Rip Greedy. Pic taken at Sawtell RSL this year 😢😢😢

The grinning tea-total Champion Rest in pure Peace AGS

Great tribute boys. Yes it's another sad loss for Aussie music from what was the greatest era of Australian pub rock. RIP Stuart & Greedy.

So glad we saw him.. you guys as always... beautidul words ... RIP Greedy... amd Stuart... music legends gone too soon... 😥 condolences to you all 😭

Saw the Mentals with you guys last year. Such a great loss 🙁🙁🙁

Thankyou very much for the gentleman, you have left the world a better place x

Heartbreaking for the whole aussie music industry and all the fans x

Mentals played an unforgetable gig at Berowra RSL some years back. Greedy the consummate band leader and pro. RIP

Vale Greedy & Stuart Fraser, 2 legends gone too soon! Irreplaceable is right 👏🏽👏🏽

The Australian music industry is full of great people. I meet a lot of them through Fender. Larger than life characters , that when you chat to them, are just good people. I was singing at a Beatles tribute night with Greedy. I thought I wouldn’t bother him, but the biggest name on the stage came up to me and said hi, and had a chat. Good people. A sad week for Aussie rock.

Yep saw the Mentals with u a few mths ago at Hamilton hotel, so so sad😢

Very sad. This is why I have been to 38 shows in 2020! You just never know when it will be your last chance to see your favourite artists. 🤘🏼RIP boys.

Well said. I’ve seen both of you in the early years and relived it in the last few, much respect.

So glad we got the chance to see him (and you guys) one last time a few months ago at South West Rocks. RIP Greedy.

well said. You guys along with the Mentals and Doc Neeson's Angels were always my faves. I am just devastated.

RIP Gentleman, gone to join the The Great Gig in the Sky, Xxoo

RIP. Greedy. Saw you guys with the Mentals earlier this year. Gone too early😢

Well said and yes RIP both awesome guys

It's been a sad week for Aussie music lovers.........😥

Lovely tribute sadly missed

Still have and think of this album every time I wAsh my up staring out of my window

This was the very first album I ever bought!! I was 13. 🙌🏼

Vivid feel-good memory of playing this album for the first time on a sunny Saturday back in 83. Whenever I hear "How Does It Feel" it always takes me back to that day. What a fantastic record.

My favorite album... I will be placing a order on the 6th.

Love this, might have to buy another t.shirt,xx

I’ll have to get one I literally wore my original until it was in tatters

Best days of my life listening to these guys...I wish I was 17 again!

Certainly one of your finest LP's for sure Brent. Gold record status and responsible for arguably the band's greatest song ever. No Tragedy. This is fantastic news mate.

Loving all these great shirt reissues👍

This was the first record.. yes record... I ever bought along with Oils 10-1. 😎

Still got an original somewhere! Orig shirt that is and still play orig vinyl!

Best album x

Best album ever

Look how young Geoff's kids where... Still got my signed copy at home

Great shirt

I got that record some where wish I had a record player

Best album

I'd love o e

Best album

Very disappointed that I couldn't see any merchandise at your recent Fitzy's (Qld) gig ? 😞😞

Omg yeh!!!!

Ohh yeahh !!!!

Mark Willo gonna get fatty a new shirt lol

Nasty Habits was the first new fangled CD I ever bought,,,,,,,,,along with The Game by some band called Queen,,,,,,,its awesome, with Brendan Callinan keyboards dominating,,,,,loved the songs......

Would love one ☝🏾

**Thanks Queenslanders 😎😎😎😎

It was back to South East Qld on the weekend for three shows. Queenslanders have always rolled up in big numbers to support the Radiators, and once again ( bless their Rock n Roll souls)..this was the case again. Friday night at the Jindalee Hotel was our first time there this century. We couldn’t remember even playing there before but Brian could ... must have been very early 80’s.., and he also remembered that we flew up with Ansett! ( it was a long time ago 😄)

This gig was due to people power! (what we have been calling out for), and our thanks goes to massive Rads fan Harley, who got motivated and hassled the crap out of the Jindalees management until they relented and eventually booked the Rads. Around 400 turned up and the pub ( and Harley the legend), were rapt. It was a top night. The audience went ape shit! Our thanks goes too, to the very hospitable and friendly staff at the Jindalee.

Another good turn out the next night at Fitzy's in Loganholme. We have definitely never played this venue ..and so it was great to break new ground in this ever expanding area, south of Brissy on the way to the Gold Coast. Thanks to all you locals who came out to support live music on a Saturday night. We had heaps of fun and the reaction afforded us was fantastic!

We travelled the next day further down the highway to a place called Mudgeeraba and the famous Wallaby Hotel. Situated in the foot of the hinterland at the back of the Gold Coast, this historic pub has so much history and atmosphere. An absolute pleasure to play here, with a huge crowd turning up for our 6.30 Sunday evening kick-off . A typical noisy Coast audience went off! Thanks to all who came along. It was a buzz. Thanks, heaps also to proprietor Mark ( and staff) for making us feel welcome and for his plans to ramp up the live music in the area. Good luck pal. Last but not least ..thanks of course to our support band on all three nights, Hy Energy, who worked the crowds up and got the gigs pumping early. Well done guys! Much appreciated 👍

Once again,
Cheers from the Rads.😎😎😎😎

Thanks Tania Theobald for the photo

Well.. what a top weekend in Tassy! Good crowds at all 3 shows and a lovely warm welcome from the locals. Tasmania is such a beautiful place, very green and picturesque and a real pleasure to drive around and admire the scenery on your way to a gig. Starting in the northern part of the state in Devenport, we played the Pub Rock Diner on Friday night. What a cool gig! Although the dressing room, (as we have already posted with the photo), could be actually the smallest in Australia.😄It was so small that when we wanted to change our mind ...we had to go outside! 😂 But it was let's just say ..very cozy and funnily enough gave us plenty of laughs and the vibe was great.

This carried through to onstage and there was a good buzz in the room. Thanks to Trevor for his hospitality and the massive plates of those legendary Jack Daniels chicken wings! They are sensational and folks, worthwhile getting to Devonport just for them alone. Heading further west the next day along the top of Tassy and into uncharted territory for us, we arrived in Rocky Cape. The wind was whipping in off the Bass Strait and we were all reaching for our jackets and beanies like pathetic city slickers. Well it is November ! 😳 The Rocky Cape Tavern is to be commended for bringing live music to the locals in that part of the world. We were pleased to be invited and blown away with the great crowd that showed up.

A big drive the next day from the top of the Apple Isle to the bottom, and thankfully arriving in time for our arvo show at the Longley International Hotel situated about a half-hour out of Hobart. This was the pub where Geoff fell down the fire escape last year and tore ligaments in his ankle. No chance of that happening again, as they put the dressing room on the ground floor this time .😄

What a top afternoon at this unique venue. A great open-air vibe and a fantastic crowd. Thanks to everyone who came along and made it such a fun gig.

Really.. thanks to everyone who rocked up to the 3 shows and gave us such a brilliant reception over the weekend.
We love the place and hopefully, we can back there sometime next year.
Cheers from the Radiators 😎😎😎😎

Great to be back out playing again. A couple of shows at Edgeworth Bowlo and Bateau Bay Pub over the weekend. We’ve had bigger nights at Edgey but it was still a fun night and we were given a top reception from the locals . Quite a few resplendent in their brand new One Touch and 40 no stopping t-shirts. Well done 👍.. very stylish!

A huge crowd rolled up the next day for our Arvo gig at Bateau Bay. What a top afternoon indeed. A sea of smiling faces meant we were hitting the spot. Everyone seemed in a good mood and ready to rock.

We always enjoy ourselves at this great venue and Saturday was no different! Absolute ripper.

Thanks to all who came out over the weekend and gave us so much fantastic support. Love ya work !

Looking forward to our Tassy run this week to keep the ball rolling.
Cheers everybody,

Gday good people ..or should it be that famous American Indian greeting ..“Howthafarkawi”? 😄 Either way, it’s been a little while since we have blogged. The band has been into the other “R and R” for a few weeks ..as in a bit of rest and recreation. A little welcome recharge, before we launch back into our familiar R n R zone next week.

We have a very busy schedule coming up in November which includes trips to Tasmania and Queensland and gigs all over the place from Newcastle /Maitland area gigs, to a couple of Central Coast area shows and down to Wollongong in December via the Shire as well. Plenty more areas being looked at of course as we speak, so we hope we can get to play for yous all in your particular neck of the woods real soon. Keep pumping your local venues in the meantime, and demand they book the Rads for 2020 ! 😂

Cheers and beers,

The Radiators

NRL Grand Final on Sunday and we were booked to play a gig ! Our show at Ettalong Diggers Club had been in our books for months but it was only in the last couple of weeks that we realized to our horror that we would miss seeing the GF! Luckily none of our teams were playing so it was a bit easier to take. 😄

The main problem we thought was that there would be no one there. Everyone would be watching the game and unfortunately, we would be playing to a virtually empty room!Well... Wrong, wrong, wrong (and glad to be on this occasion. ) A great roll-up of people ready to party and rip into it with the Rads and Mental as Anything double.

Good on you everyone for supporting live music and hooking in. Knowing that the next day was a public holiday, certainly helped things along thats for sure! It was a fun gig.

We even did an impromptu Country and Western version of Gimme Head which went down well.😂.

The Mentals were on fire as well and played great, so it was a top night all around for everyone.

Thanks so much to all who came along to the fabulous Diggers Club.

Cheers from the Rads 😎😎😎😎

Sorry I missed the gig but the Roosters in the GF - I couldn’t miss that

No, Thank you! Had a great night Rockin Out to 'The Rads', Pub Rock rules for sure. Got to relive my youth. It was like stepping back in time to this gig my mate and I attended over 29 years ago. I handed Geoff one of these ticket stubs. The Rads have still got it,in fact they never lost it. See ya at the Bateau Bay Hotel in early November fellas.

probably australia's 2 best bands (along with Doc Neeson's Angels) . Wish I lived a couple of thousand km closer. Have seen you both separately many times but together - oh my. that would rock.

A fantastic night guys, b seeing you again at Bateau Bay!!!

Sensational and no surprise. Greatness always attracts 😍♥

NRL is on the way out. The Rads are on the way up 👍🤣

Awesome show guys...full review and gallery up at redbackrock.com/gigs2

It was a great show! Great friends, great music - worth the trip from the USA Kim Ransley Angie Evans Mark Ransley Helene Ritter Tony Evans

I used to see you guys a lot when living in Sydney. Any chance you guys coming to Perth? Thanks.

You should’ve been playing at the Grand Final

Next year you should be the pre game entertainment ... that would be awesome

Would have loved to have been there but work unfortunately

It’s more like the grand final we’re lucky to have people there knowing that THE RADIATORS were playing

Sorry guys my team were in the gf and won 😃😃😃

I hope someone got that country music version of Gimme Head on video!!!???

I love you guy!

Wendy Eggins “country version of gimme head went DOWN well...... 😂😂😂

Where to next

Stephen Brand

Coming Home! Crowd going wild.

Who watches the footy anymore anyway? The ratings have dropped by approx 1/2 million viewers. Maybe people are starting to realise believing the NRL is real is like believing Home & Away is real. I’d rather see you guys , and looks like many others feel the same too.

Next year you should be the pre game entertainment ... that would be awesome

The Radiators

Saturday night saw the band back in the Sutherland Shire.

A familiar stomping ground for the Rads for 4 decades now ,and one where we are always warmly welcomed. What was different this time was ,we were playing a venue that somehow we had never performed at in 40 years ! A miracle ! 😃. Why we have missed the Engadine Hotel is strange as it is indeed a great live venue. Its got a bigger room than most pubs in Sydney. More like a small club room with a good stage and an unobstructed view for all the audience.

Great staff and a nice roll up of punters made for a top night at the Engadine. We didn’t see ScoMo in the audience however . We’ve been told besides being a Sharkie ,he was Rads Tragic as well. Oh well maybe next time .. We know he’s a busy guy. ( There’s a free new issue Gimme Head T- shirt for him when he does front up... Although we’ve been told to hide the Tequila!😂

Thanks to everyone who came along . Many many smiling faces and great applause told us we were hitting the spot .
Cheers guys n gals, The Radiators 😎😎😎😎

PS. Thanks Paula Turner for the photo.
